If you wish to escape the noisy city and experience the authentic, rural side of Morocco, we highly recommend this Atlas Mountains and Imlil Day Trip—one of the most breathtaking day trips from Marrakech. This journey is full of wonders and adventures, offering a perfect blend of nature, culture, and local life.
Our day trip begins at 09:00 AM from Marrakech, traveling by 4×4 vehicle or minivan for approximately two hours south through the Moulay Brahim Gorges and the Berber village of Asni, which is famous for its weekly market every Saturday.
Next, we head to Imlil, a vibrant green valley that remains lush even during the hottest summer days. Nestled at the foothills of Toubkal Mountain, Morocco’s highest peak, Imlil is the hub for hiring mountain guides and mules and serves as a popular starting point for treks and hikes to surrounding Berber villages.
Upon arrival in Imlil, we leave our vehicle and take mules for a 40-minute ride south to the Berber village of Aremd (1,843 m). Situated in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, Aremd offers scenic trails and streams branching out in all directions. Here, we enjoy a traditional lunch in a local Berber house, followed by a short walk to explore the surroundings and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
After this unforgettable experience, we return to Marrakech, completing a full day of mountain adventure, cultural immersion, and scenic beauty.
