This trip includes one of Morocco’s most gorgeous mountain roads and a memorable time in the desert. You will see calm towns, high plateaus, and the famous M’Goun Gorges before completing your trip in the Sahara and Ait Benhaddou.
Your trip starts with a drive across the Atlas Mountains to the Ait Bougamez Valley, which is one of Morocco’s greenest and quietest areas.
Stop at the Ouzoud Waterfalls on the route. They are known for their cool mist and vistas of the mountains.
Dinner and a night in a rustic guesthouse in the middle of nature.
After breakfast, meet your mountain crew and start your hike from Agouti (1,800m).
Take a walk through peaceful valleys, walnut trees, modest farms, and Amazigh settlements.
This is a calm day that gets your body ready for the days to come.
In camp for the night. (5–6 hours of easy walking)
The sceneries are getting wilder today.
Take your time climbing to the Tizi N’Ifri Pass, which has breathtaking views of the High Atlas.
Go down into the Oulilimt Valley, a quiet, wide-open place with cliffs and routes for shepherds.
Get to Afalfa, a quiet mountain spring where your camp is set up.
Tents for the night. Six hours of walking
Follow the Ouzighimt Valley, which goes through stone towns where time seems to stand still.
Meet people from the area, visit terraced fields, and enjoy a view of red rocks and green fields.
Get to Imin Irkt, a quiet little place at the start of the M’Goun Gorges.
Camping for the night. (6 hours of walking)
One of the most stunning days of the hike.
Walk through the famous M’Goun Gorges, which is a tight canyon that was made by water over thousands of years.
Between tall, vertical walls that make magical light and sound, you will stroll in the river, which can be knee-deep at times.
This is a great way to enjoy nature and is one of M’Goun’s best features.
If the water level is too high, we will take a different route over Tizi N’Ait Hamed.
Go on to Aguerzaga.
In tents all night. Six hours of walking
Say goodbye to your mountain team and start the desert journey.
Drive through the Roses Valley, known for its sweet-smelling rose cooperatives, then
continue through Dades Valley and Todra Gorge—Morocco’s most iconic canyon.
Arrive in Merzouga and enjoy a camel ride into the dunes at sunset.
Spend the night in a peaceful desert camp with traditional music.
Overnight in Sahara camp. (5 hours drive)
Get up early to see the sun rise and paint the dunes gold.
Ride camels and keep going through old caravan settlements like Rissani and Alnif.
Arrive in Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Ksar where many well-known movies were shot.
Take a guided tour and then rest at a classic hotel with a view of the valley.
Stay the night in Ait Benhaddou.
After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Ounila Valley, one of the most scenic roads in
the Atlas Mountains.
Stop at the historic Kasbah Telouet, one of the most impressive palaces of southern
Morocco.
Cross the Tizi N’Tichka Pass and arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon.
End of your journey.
